There’s one story from my childhood that I carry with me every single day – a memory that has shaped who I am, and who I continue to be. It’s about San Nicola, the feast of our Patron Saint, which holds an incredibly special place in my heart. 

This was always a day that brought our family together. But for me, it was especially about my grandmother. I can still see her early in the morning, preparing the Zuppa di San Nicola, a traditional dish that we made as a family. The kitchen would be filled with the smell of meatballs, and the table would soon be covered with food. My grandmother’s love, care, and attention to every detail made this day unforgettable.

San Nicola wasn’t just a feast – it was a reminder of what really mattered: family. It was the day when my grandmother’s spirit and memory were the strongest, when her love for me and for our traditions surrounded us all. It was a day that taught me what it means to belong, to have roots, and to carry the legacy of those who came before us. Even now, I hold that day in my heart. My grandmother’s memory stays with me, her lessons shaping the way I see the world and the way I live my life.
